As always, please don’t contact me here at Chicago Homeschool Habitat if you are interested in this class. Contact information is at the bottom of this post. Maybe we’ll see you there though!

“Happy Winter!

We are excited to offer Weekly Sessions at the Museum starting in January and our Science Fair on June 11.

Weekly sessions are where students will experience learning science through hands-on activities, experiments, and small groups investigations.  We are offering two sessions staring in January.

Scientific Method

Ages 7 to 12

Tuesdays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

January 13 through March 3

Cost:  $150/child per eight week session

A great way to prepare for the Home School Science Fair!  Students create candy graphs while learning the components of the scientific method.  Student scientists work together in teams to design and carry out class experiments such as designing and testing rockets made with effervescent tablets.

Amazing Creatures

Ages 5 to 8

Mondays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

January 26 through March 16

Cost:  $150/child per eight week session

Students use critical thinking skills as they explore animal life cycles, habitats, adaptations, and behaviors.

Classifications, comparisons, observations, math, and hands-on activities help students discover the wonderful world of animals.

Home School Science Fair

June 11, 2009

Science projects help students put into practice some of the scientific knowledge that they have studied.  Participation and preparation for a science fair can also help develop additional valued skills.  A science project will help them to learn much more about a subject that interests them personally.  Through the Science Fair, students will have an opportunity to share their new discovery with others.
