Tour Japanese Consulate

 illinois-chicago.jpg

This is a note from Kelly Ann, our dram instructor and fellow homeschooling momma about an awesome field trip she set up:

Hi Everyone:

The Performance Ensemble Class at Corcoran School of Theater Arts is taking a field trip on Thursday, April 17th to the Japanese Consulate. They have arranged a 90 minute program for us that will include a presentation on school life in Japan, an age appropriate overview of The Hiroshima bombing and hands on calligraphy, origami and kimono wrapping. They are really nice and I think this is going to be super fun and interesting. Afterward we are going out for sushi together so we will really get a well rounded experience. We have space to bring 14 more young folk along.

The age range is 10 years and up. You may drop off or accompany your child. (If you would like to chaperone and have a younger sibling you want to bring along, give me a ring.)

Details:

Cost : $20 per child (includes presentation and train/bus fare)

Early Sushi Dinner $12-15 including tip. Optional

Day: Thursday, April 17th

Noon: We will be meeting at The Logan Square Blue Line stop on Kedzie. (We will be boarding the train at 12:15)

1:15: Presentation at the Japan Information Center at the Japanese Consulate, 737 N. Michigan Avenue, (312) 790-0400

–after the presentation we will be taking the bus back North to House of Sushi & Noodles at 1610 West Belmont, where we will be having an early supper. This restaurant has gotten great reviews for delicious but inexpensive sushi. No frills but good food. The dinner buffet is $10:95 for all you can eat and the average ticket is $9. Figure $12-15 with tax and tip.

–Parents and families are welcome to join us at the restaurant.

3:30: If you do not want to participate in this part of the activity you can pick up your child at 1610 N. Belmont at approximately 3:30. I will have my cell phone if you need to call for a more exact pick up time.

4:30: Pick up at 1610 West Belmont in front of House of Sushi and Noodles.

To reserve, please reply to me off-list or call me at 773-384-8818.

Reservations are due April 11th.

Payment by check or via paypal is great.

Thanks,

KellyAnn Corcoran
