From Pam Z.

Hello everyone,

I finally found a place to hold this workshop! We need a big turnout, so
please pass this along to all your fellow homeschoolers and post this to
other homeschooling groups that you think might be interested. This is for
children of all ages; younger kids will need an adult to help them, older
kids/teens will be able to do it with minimum help. I apologize that this
post is so close to the event date; finding a place to host this was a
little challenging!

Below is an excerpt from the Build A Drum Website:

We start in circle and create our special place together. After a brief
story about drums and drumming, our mini-ashiko drums pick us out!

The kids spend the next hour sanding and painting special symbols on the
drum shell. Creativity and imagination are highly encouraged throughout the
workshop, but especially here!

After the drums have had a chance to dry, Stan works with each young drum
builder to attach the drum skin head.

When all the kids have completed their drums, we gather in circle once more.
Here we learn just a little bit about the different tones available form
each drum and our first song together.
